Signature Health Inc. Now Offering Free HIV Testing in Cleveland-Area Communities

Cleveland, OH (July 22, 2019) - Cleveland-based Signature Health, a community agency providing primary medical care, mental health, and substance use services is now offering free HIV testing at Signature Health locations.


Available Monday-Friday, from the hours of 9am-4pm, Signature Health will host this free, confidential HIV testing on a walk-in basis at their Lakewood, Ashtabula, Beachwood, Maple Heights, Painesville, and Willoughby locations (see website for full testing schedule). No appointment is needed to receive a free HIV test. To keep things confidential, individuals desiring a test should simply ask for “free testing” at the check-in window. Signature Health offers same-day visits for sexually transmitted infection (STI) screening and to discuss medication to prevent HIV (PrEP).


Infectious Disease Director at Signature Health, Dr. Sarah Hoehnen, explains the importance of this initiative—“HIV is both treatable and preventable. Getting healthy and staying healthy all starts with a test. If a patient does not have HIV infection, medication is available that can dramatically reduce their risk of acquiring HIV. If a patient does have HIV infection, treatment can help them live a long and healthy life,” said Dr. Hoehnen.

Signature Health also offers assistance regarding insurance and finances so that each person seeking medical services can get the help they desire. These services include financial counseling, assistance in applying for Medicare/Medicaid, and providing discounted rates based on income (sliding scale).
